PSP6 TUTORIAL
Drawing a Vase

This is my first PSP tutorial, so if you have any comments regarding the content or layout I would be pleased to hear from you.  The tutorial is mainly image based to help those who are not so familiar with the program.

Open image 500x500 - Selection tool - circle.
Use the ruler and start at 250-250, taking the image to 450-450.

Select a colour darker shade for the foreground and light for background.

Flood fill selection using the settings above.

Apply the noise filter three times.

Apply Deformations 'Cylinder-Horizontal' and 'Cylinder-Vertical'.

This is where the vase starts to take shape.
Use the selection tool - Ellipse - align at 400w 250h.

Rotate image.
Flood fill
For the shape on the left hand side of the vase, you can either copy/paste (as new selection) the selection you have made for the right hand side, aligning it to 100w 250h and use mirror image, or you can create a new ellipse with that alignment and rotate it left 'free' 8 degrees, flood filling it with the background colour of white.

Selection tool - ellipse align at 250w

Flood fill with these settings. Apply noise filter once.
Layers - merge all.

Selections 'invert' - use paintbrush with background colour
to remove the area of the vase above the opening selection.

Now it is time to decorate the vase. I have used Ornament font, you can download this here or use any Dingbat that you want.  I then rotated the image to give some perspective to the vase.

After applying the cutout filter, add noise. Copy/paste the selection onto the right hand side of the vase and rotate the image left 'free' 10 degrees. Copy/paste again for the centre image, rotate left 'free' 5 degrees. Image 'flip'.

Here is the finished vase (resized) with some flower tubes added.
